Expertise & Specialisation

With over 15 years experience of operating exclusive small group and tailor-made desert safaris, cultural tours, walks and treks to Morocco, our team at Specialist Morocco meticulously plan and create fully-bonded Moroccan holidays including only the best Moroccan riads, hotels and tented camps. All our holidays are available on either a land only or flight-inclusive basis.

Licences & Associations

With our Sales and Marketing office based in Surrey, England, and our Operations office based locally in Marrakech, Specialist Morocco is a fully licensed Morocco tour operator offering expert advice and booking support in the UK, and a dedicated and experienced support team in Morocco. Specialist Morocco is a trading name of Specialist Destinations Ltd, which offers 100% financial protection to all customers through its membership of the Travel Trust Association

We are also proud members of ATTA - a highly respected and leading association which represents travel operators on the African continent. Company founder and owner, Nick Anstead, is a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. He regularly attends events and functions to ensure the company stays abreast of industry initiatives and developments.

Included Meal Plans

Breakfast is always included. Lunches and dinners are sometimes included, depending on remoteness of accommodation and the daily route/itinerary followed.  In popular Moroccan places such as Marrakech, Fes or Essaouira, we normally just include bed and breakfast to allow freedom to dine out at a growing range of excellent local restaurants.

Typical Accommodation

On our Moroccan cultural and discovery tours we include a hand-picked range of exclusive local-style accommodation such as riads, dars, kasbahs and quality hotels with a distinct 'WOW' factor. On the Atlantic Coast we incorporate stylish beach hotels and villa rentals into our holidays - each chosen for its ambience, style, uniqueness, location, facilities and service.

On more adventurous and pioneering road tours and desert safaris, which tend to get off-the-beaten-track, we stay in the best available small character hotels and tented camps. In the High Atlas, depending on the trek route chosen, we either camp (sleeping in quality tents suitable for mountain conditions) or stay in dorm-style mountain huts, village houses, gites or small local hotels. On certain trek routes we offer a higher quality of camping and accommodation.

Our Transport

On our Moroccan cultural tours and holidays we supply either luxurious people-carrier style vehicles, spacious saloon cars or minibuses. All vehicles come equipped with all necessary safety features including seat-belts, fire extinguisher and a medical kit.

For desert safaris and off-road adventures we use specially modified 4x4 vehicles which are well-suited to Morocco's variable road conditions, particularly sand/piste tracks, forest trails and along rough minor mountain roads. Specialist Morocco only operates with robust 4x4 vehicles such as Toyota Land Cruisers or Land Rovers. Although 4x4 vehicles typically seat 6 passengers in Morocco (plus driver) we base all our safaris on 4-5 guests to ensure greater comfort and a guaranteed window seat.

All drivers carry mobile phones (network coverage is increasing in Morocco). Major mountain ranges and a growing percentage of Morocco’s most accessible desert wilderness areas have some coverage. Air-conditioning is available for travel during the hotter summer months. Luggage is usually packed behind the rear seats or on a roof rack.

Local Guides

Many of our local guides have been working with us for several years. Our driver/guides have a deep appreciation for, and understanding of, Morocco's amazing culture and wilderness, whilst also displaying a love for their country and its people.

Since the day we started we have focused time and effort on the training and development of local Moroccan tour guides. We have concentrated on this aspect because we realise that one of the most important contributing factors to a successful Moroccan tour is the ability, personality and knowledge of the professional local tour guide. As a result of this, on a tour with us, our guests are enriched with local knowledge and gain a wonderful insight into Morocco.

On our city break and twin-centre holidays a Specialist Morocco representative is available for support and advice on local activities. On our Atlas mountain walks and treks we include an experienced local mountain guide who is supported by cook, mules and muleteers.

Age Restrictions

Morocco is an exciting holiday destination for families with children of all ages. Each holiday we offer details whether the trip is suitable for children or not, due to differing child policies of accommodation, driving distances and terrain encountered. Look out for our specially designed holidays for families - Morocco family adventure holidays.

We do not have an upper age limit on our holidays although a reasonable degree of health and fitness is required.

What to Bring

A detailed recommended packing, clothing and equipment list will be forwarded after confirmation of booking. What to bring very much depends on the time of year of visit, type of trip and local destinations.
