Cascades d'Ouzoud - Beautiful Waterfalls

Located in the Grand Atlas village of Tanaghmeilt approx. 150 km north-east of Marrakech, the Cascades d'Ouzoud (the Olive Waterfalls, named after nearby Olive trees) are one of the most scenic natural attractions in Morocco.

The surrounding landscape is made up of idyllic green valleys, mills, orchards and the dramatic gorges of the El Abid River (Slaves River in Arabic). The Cascades d'Ouzoud represent a complex network of waterfalls that cascade one into another through three major and several minor drops.

Swimming is possible at the bottom of the falls. Access is through a shaded path of olive trees. As the sun begins to fade whole troops of baboons can often be seen playing in the twilight - very surreal.
